LIGHT & LIFE PARK

Member Application

CHRISTIAN RETIREMENT at its BEST

Florida’s Light and Life Park (the Park) is an outreach arm of the Free Methodist (FM) Church.  It is a unique fellowship of mostly retired people, 55 or older from many walks and styles of life that join for worship, recreation, and productive work.

The Park facilities include a 550-seat church, a 450-seat dining hall, eight furnished cabins, nine guest rooms, 12 travel trailer sites with full hookups, two bathhouses, and laundry facilities. Amenities include a tennis/pickleball court, woodshop, heated swimming pool, shuffleboard courts, miniature golf, nine-hole golf course, library, sewing/craft facility, fitness center, gardening center, nature trails, and horseshoe pits.

The infrastructure includes several miles of blacktopped roads, a two-well monitored water supply, and a wastewater treatment system with aeration and settling ponds.  Private residences include permanent houses, mobile homes, trailers, and a 24-unit villa (condos).

The Park was developed over several decades by Free Methodists, primarily for FM members.  Non-Free Methodists may make application and, as long as the quota for FM member has been met and references are checked, approval may be granted. Application for residency may be made in two ways based upon current FM church membership status.

APPLYING for MEMBERSHIP

To become a member of Florida’s Light and Life Park an applicant must be a minimum of 55 years old. To apply, complete and submit an application. An application can be obtained from the office, downloaded here, or completed online here.  References will be contacted, and the application will be submitted to the Board for consideration.

Items which are reviewed and considered by the board include:

  1. Free Methodist membership (current and in good standing for at least 2 years or current FM member for less than 2 years but with previous FM membership for at least 5 years).
  2. Comments from References.

Members of a Non-FM church may apply and be considered if they are of like faith and practice.

A non-refundable application fee must be submitted with the completed application form.  The application is presented to the Park Board of Directors for written Board approval which is required before a residential purchase can be completed.  A Board approval expires two years after it is granted if a purchase has not occurred.  In the case of disapproval, half of the application fee is refundable.

A buy-in charge is required of first-time owners of a Park residence.  A residence purchased within 2 years following Board approval of residency will have the $100 application fee and $900.00 at closing. Fees can be found here: Fee Schedule.

STIPULATIONS of OWNERSHIP

Before applying for membership (a prerequisit for purchasing a residence), the applicant must consider and agree to abide to the following provisions:

  1. A mortgage or other encumbrance may not be employed to purchase any residence in the Park.
  2. A Park residence may not be deeded to anyone, nor a co-owner added without a completed board approved application.
  3. A residence may not be acquired for rental property; rather it is to be used as a personal residence of the owner.
  4. Only one Light and Life Park residence may be owned at a time.
  5. Annual Operating Fees are billed November 15 and due by January 15 of the New Year.
