CHRISTIAN RETIREMENT at its BEST
Florida’s Light and Life Park (the Park) is an auxiliary of the Free Methodist (FM) Church. It is a unique fellowship of people 55 or older from many walks and styles of life that join for worship, recreation, and productive work.
The Park facilities include a 550-seat church, a 450-seat dining hall, eight furnished cabins, nine guest rooms, 12 travel trailer sites with full hookups, two bathhouses, and laundry facilities. Amenities include a tennis/pickleball court, woodshop, heated swimming pool, shuffleboard courts, miniature golf, nine-hole golf course, library, sewing/craft facility, fitness center, gardening center, nature trails, and horseshoe pits.
The infrastructure includes several miles of blacktopped roads, a two-well monitored water supply, and a wastewater treatment system with aeration and settling ponds. Private residences include permanent houses, mobile homes, park-model-sized trailers, and a 24-unit villa.
The Park was developed over several decades by Free Methodists, primarily for FM members. It is a special place and many visitors over the years have joined the community because they are of like faith with the residents. As a result, a quota has been set for our membership to assure that we remain primarily Free Methodist.
Visiting the Park
Most people, when visiting the Park, fall in love with the people, scenery, amenities, facilities, and wildlife and begin their journey to join the community. In fact, when someone tells us they are coming for the first time, we warn them that they will want to come back.
Visitors are welcome to stay as guests with their friends or family that are resident owners here. There are also facilities that we will rent so that visitors may stay on the property. They include our Guest Rooms, Cabins, and RV Spots. Be sure to check out our Rental tab for more information. Prime season is often booked, but you are welcome to come and stay during summer months for an affordable accommodation just about an hour from either Orlando or Tampa.
Joining Our Community
So, are you ready to join this community? You have two options. You can become a renter
or choose the path to ownership of a residence. In either case, you must be approved.
Renting
Renting is a great way to become familiar
with the Park, residents, and amenities.
Renting of our facilities is on a first come, first served basis with priority given to returning renters. It is still possible that there are openings for approved renters. To become an approved renter, a Renter and Guest Application must be completed and sent to the Park Office for approval. This form can be obtained from the Office, downloaded here, or completed online here. Click the Application link here or under Rentals. References will be contacted, and the application will be reviewed by management for consideration.
Becoming a Member
The path to Membership is two-fold. First, you must be approved by the Board of Directors to purchase a residence.
Second, you must purchase a residence at which time you become a member.
The Path to Membership
There is a one-time membership fee that is payable in two parts. A non-refundable application fee must be submitted with the completed application form. The second part is a first-time resident fee which is paid at closing when a residence is purchased.
Applying for Residency
Complete and submit an Application for Approval to reside in Light and Life Park to the office. The application can be found here or by contacting the office. Staff will review the application and contact the references. Once the references have been reached, the application is forwarded to the Park Board of Directors for consideration.
